Testing and standards

COMPOSITION AND MATERIALS
A combination of anodized aluminum with a custom formulated
polyurethane thermal barrier. This structural spacer warms the edge of the glass to reduce condensation and improve the U-factor of the window. Warm-Light structural spacer will exhibit 20 percent less deflection and will withstand more than twice the Lbf to failure in compression tests than a conventional aluminum spacer.

APPLICABLE STANDARDS

  • ASTM E 773 Standard Test Method for Accelerated Weathering of Sealed Insulating Glass Units
  • ASTM E 774 Standard Specification for the Classification of the Durability of Sealed Insulating Glass Units
  • CAN/CGSB 12.8 Insulating Glass Units
  • ASTM E 2190 Standard Specification for Insulating Glass Unit Performance and Evaluation
  • ASTM E 2189 Standard Test Method for Testing Resistance to Fogging in Insulating Glass Units
  • ASTM E 2188 Standard Test Method for Insulating Glass Unit Performance
  • ASTM E 546 Standard Test Method for Frost Point of Sealed Insulating Glass Units
  • ASTM C 794 Standard Test Method for Adhesion-in-Peel of Elastomeric Joint Sealants
  • ASTM E 96 Standard Test Methods for Water Vapor Transmission of Materials (Moisture Vapor Transmission)
  • ASTM E 398 Standard Test Method for Water Vapor Transmission Rate of Sheet Materials Using Dynamic Relative Humidity Measurement
  • ASTM D 638 Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Plastics
  • ASTM C 518 Standard Test Method for Steady-State Thermal Transmission Properties by Means of the Heat Flow Meter Apparatus Sealant compatibility
  • Argon gas retention—Exceeds DIN standard of less than 1 percent loss per year
  •  UV degradation
♦ Test results at 2,000 hours with rigid polyurethane
♦ UV inhibitor added to ensure no loss of aesthetic properties

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
The warm-edge technology, as manufactured by Azon can be instrumental in
reducing building energy consumption through improved thermal performance of glazing systems.
Azon thermal barrier products for aluminum fenestration and warm-edge spacer for insulating glass, can contribute to earning points toward LEED certification (in Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources,Indoor Environmental Quality) . . learn more »
